Description
An exceptional, heavy-gauge antique Anglo-Indian brass jardinière (planter pot) dating to the late 19th or early 20th century British Raj period. This substantial piece is entirely handcrafted, featuring high-relief repoussé medallions depicting traditional figures and warriors surrounded by dense, hand-chased floral scrollwork and detailed stippled punchwork backgrounds.
The lower body terminates in a beautiful traditional lotus-petal border resting on a flared pedestal base with matching palm leaf engravings. The interior basin floor shows original hand-hammered joining rivets beneath a genuine aged patina and natural verdigris. The underside reveals heavy, authentic lead-solder reinforcement from its original old-world construction, confirming it was beaten by hand rather than machine-spun. A superb, highly decorative investment piece for collectors of antique Asian or colonial metalware.
