Description
Vintage Australian Department of Civil Aviation Enamel Uniform Badge (King's Crown Era)
An authentic, highly collectible piece of Australian civil aviation history. This official uniform badge was manufactured by the renowned silversmiths Stokes & Sons in Melbourne, featuring their crisp maker's mark stamped cleanly on the reverse side.
Historical Era & Design:
Dating from the King George VI era (circa 1938–1952), the badge is surmounted by the Imperial Tudor Crown (King's Crown). The center depicts the beautifully detailed Australian Civil Air Ensign in high-quality vitreous enamel, quartered by a dark blue cross and showcasing the stars of the Southern Cross.
Condition & Custom Modification:
  • Enamel Face: Excellent condition, crisp colors, no major chips, bright gilt border detailing.
  • Reverse: Shows an untouched, gorgeous vintage patina with natural aged character.
  • Attachment: Features a fascinating, heavy-duty period horizontal tunic-pin conversion soldered professionally over the original hat lugs. The pin assembly remains completely functional, rigid, and ready for secure display or wear on a flight jacket or tunic pocket.
Dimensions:
  • Height: 60mm (6cm)
  • Width: 40mm (4cm)
Shipping & Pickup Details:
